Interesting and fun day out seeing underwater animals. Went with husband and 7.5 year old child, it is probably more geared towards younger preschool kids but still was plenty interesting for the older kids. The attractions are what you would expect to see at an a aquarium with two "underwater" tunnels that you walk through with sea life swimming over you. There was loads of activity and the fish and other animals were beautiful. Went on a bit of a quiet day earlier in the day (10:30) and there were little to no lines with not much congestion. Took about 1.5 hours on an easy pace. When we left around midday the line to get in was much longer and I would assume that the crowds would be much hectic than earlier in the day. Overall a must do for locals and great for visitors as well. Did Madame Tussands right after the Aquarium with the Attraction pass and that was very fun! Nice way to spend a few hours in Darling Harbour.
We began our day at the aquarium, entry was simple and easy, staff were friendly. Throughout our journey throughout the attraction, ramps were not very accessible due to limited width. Once getting to the top of the never-ending ramps, the fire alarm system went off, after a few minutes we were told to stand by for further instructions, the alarm system went off for over 10 minutes and was quite disruptive to our visit and led to sensory overload. In the end, the alarm was turned off and we were told to continue about our day. Onto Madame Tussaud’s, exciting but loud music ruined the experience. We understand the importance of showing off these celebrities great work, but noise levels took away from the experience, as it was way too loud and led to lots of discomfort for a variety of guests of all ages and abilities. Lastly, we visited the Wildlife park, this was by far the best experience out of the 3! It was quite, COVID protocols were in place, compared to limited social distancing in the aquarium earlier that morning. Animals were happy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our exploration throughout this attraction.
The aquarium was not as good as I expected, and is starting to age a bit. It's not quite up there with the standard of similar attractions overseas. Same goes for Sydney Tower. It's a great view, but little has changed up there in the last 25 years. Madame Tussauds was better than expected. Wax figures sound a bit gimmicky to me, but I ended up having fun with it taking corny staged photos. Madame Tussauds turned out to be a good 1/2 hour of fun. At Sea Life, social distancing practices were terrible, with no enforcement or emphasis on safety for guests. The hand sanitizer stank like kerosene, and half of them had run out and the staff didn't seem to care. Staff training with customer relations was generally poor, as the staff I spoke to were either apathetic or bordering on rude. The online booking for multiple attractions is also dysfunctional, as I got a "Thank you for your booking" message on screen and an email confirmation, yet when I got there I found out my time slot bookings were incomplete.
HUGE place !! I was worried that I would only see few fishes and sea animals but I got hit in the face. In the last sections before the end my mind was so blown off that I was barely able to look over the informations boards. Anyway, everything is clear, clean and beautiful. You'd be surprised. Learnt so much about the sea life. Had a great time. Certainly worth it !đź‘Ťđź‘Ť
We spent a full day at these four attractions. Our favorites were the aquarium and Madame Tussauds and we spent the longest time in the aquarium. The aquarium even has a fun ride through the penguin exhibit. Unfortunately at Madame Tussauds the automated cameras were not working. If you buy the full photo package you can get discounts at the other photo locations.
Aquarium was not bad, but mot awe-inspiring. The hop on Hop off bus instructions were very unclear. We thought had two days to use it, but found out when we did go to use it on day two that it was only good for the previous day. We ended up getting on it, but because of the time of day, around 4 p.m., we couldn't get off, and basically just did an hour and a half long cruise around the harbour. At least they let us ride is the upside I guess! Nice scenery and views of the opera house and other sights, but a little disappointed about not being able to hop on and off.
First of all the 3 attractions: Sea Life, the wax museum and the Wild Life zoo are all in the . The same building, so it's super convenient. The wax museum and the zoo shares the same entrance. The pass allows you go immediately walk in with just your pass print out. The aquarium is good with a sea cow, sharks, rays, jelly fish and touch starfish exhibition. The zoo is the best for close encounters of animals. Been to many zoos down under and this one is the best. You actually get to see the platypus, Tasmanian devils, and other nocturnal marsupials up close, and the emus walk around you. Really didn't want to see the wax museum, but I had a blast, it's mostly taking selfies, and a small bio of the wax lifelike characters, with emphasis on Australian celebrities. It's all located in the beautiful Darling Harbour which has a wide array of eateries and libations to choose from. Give yourself like 6 or 7 hours to see, shop and eat. Plenty transportation options available: ferries, light rail, taxi. A must! You can only start the tours on the assigned day but you can finish the package anytime afterwards. The Sydney Sky Tower is located closer to Hyde park in the CBD at the Westfield shopping mall, rather hard to find that starts on the 5th floor behind the huge food court. There is a 3D film shown first.
